By RhondaI don’t know the answer, but here are some things to try:* Update all fields — select the entire document (Ctrl+A), then update all fields (F9)* Turn on field shading ( ) then go to any numbered Heading 1 and select the number part of the heading — it should turn to gray indicating that it’s a field and the tab should automatically get selected too. If you already have a List of Figures when you make this change to how the captions are numbered, click inside that list and press F9 to update it (select Update entire table). It seems to me that Word is reading until it finds the paragraph mark (pilcrow) and includes all as the figure title. This doesn’t work either, as the rest of the caption text (regardless of formatting) is still inclunded in the table of figures.
